Metro Boomin has shared a heart warming tribute to his mother on social media on the anniversary of her death.
The super-producer took to Instagram on Saturday (June 3), and posted a lengthy message to his late mother Leslie Wayne. Wayne was shot and killed in June 2022 by her husband, who was not the producer’s father, who then turned the gun on himself. Law enforcement discovered Wayne’s body in an area outside of Atlanta.
“I can’t believe today makes 1 year since we have lost You my Love,” Metro Boomin began. “You were the best Mother and friend that anyone could possibly even pray for. You dedicated every second and every ounce of your being to the betterment of your 5 children and our family as a whole. Our time was cut short but I’m still so grateful for all that you have taught me and the values, lessons, and morals You have instilled in each of us.”
Metro Boomin continued: “You were loved by so many people because you welcomed so many different types of people and were just as pure to each and every one of them, making them all feel that they had a Mom or Sister in You as well. This shit hurts so much having to live everyday knowing I won’t hear your voice or see your face again, but based on everything you taught me, I’m confident and know that this new reality and experience will 100% no doubt continue to shape me into a better man than I would have ever been able to become with You down here in the physical form. You’ve always said that I’m a hero to not only my younger brothers and sisters but to millions of others out there from afar. So I just look at this as part of my origin story and continue to move forward with the mission as I know You would want me to.”
“Every time someone tells me that my will to keep going and striving in the midst of such a tragedy inspires them to keep going despite their trials, it reminds me that I’m on the right path and your passing wasn’t for nothing. It hurts that I don’t get your calls and texts and screenshots every time I achieve something new anymore but I’m grateful to have the many many manyyyyy ones from You already on the 10+ year journey leading up to now. I Love You Mom with all my being and can’t wait to see You again because I know I will!!”
Nas Joins Metro Boomin In The ‘Spider-Verse’ With New Track ‘Nas Morales’
Metro previously shared a similar message to his late mother on Mother’s Day a few weeks ago. He started by talking about how during Mother’s Day 2022, he and his mother were driving to get pizza and how he gifted his mother his Bentley truck after she expressed interest in it.
“I remember Mothers Day last year we rode together to go pick up some pizza and you really admired the inside of this truck,” Metro Boomin wrote. “I had told you I hadn’t really drove it in years and I felt your antennas go up. You went on about the truck some more and I told you that you could have it. You got real excited and wanted to take a picture with it when we got back. You were the QUEEN of posing for pictures and I’m sure that’s where my youngest brother gets it from.”
“You had so much personality and charisma as well as hustle and drive as well as humility and compassion and I know that’s where I get all of that from. If I only knew You would be taken from me a few weeks later. I miss everything about You and it hurts so much as I cry so much typing this. Everyday I’ve woke up for the past year is like a nightmare that’s never gon end. I Love and miss You with all my heart and every piece of my being.”
He added: “Gonna continue to do great things and dedicate it all back to You,” Metro added. “I can’t stress enough for everybody to love your parents while they are here because they are the only ones we get. Happy Mothers Day to all the Queens out there and to everyone going through this day without their Queen just know you are not alone.”
