Does Indiana Jones die in the Dial of Destiny 2023 movie?

Indiana Jones does not die in the Dial of Destiny.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter way back in 2016, director Steven Spielberg explained that Indiana Jones wouldn’t be killed off in the new movie:

The one thing I will tell you is I’m not killing off Harrison [Ford] at the end of it.

Steven Spielberg

Since making that comment, Spielberg handed the directing reins over to James Mangold. Despite this, it’s remained clear that Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones would survive the Dial of Destiny, leaving the future of the character open for upcoming movies.

While Indiana Jones won’t die in the Dial of Destiny, it’s clear that the movie will mark the final appearance of Harrison Ford in the titular role.

It’s easy to compare Ford’s appearance in Dial of Destiny with his role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. For that movie, Ford agreed to be in the movie, provided he could be killed off. Clearly there was no such arrangement in place for the new Indiana Jones movie, as Harrison Ford’s character is very much alive by the film’s conclusion. To be fair, it would be pretty morbid to have Harrison Ford reprise a bunch of roles and have all of his characters killed off.

As for what happens next with the Indiana Jones character, it’s not yet known. Hopefully fans get news about that sooner rather than later.

For more Indiana Jones content, here’s whether or not Shia LaBeouf’s Mutt Williams character appears in the new movie. Also, this video highlights the legacy of the legendary adventurer.
