Thor: Love and Thunder saw the God of Thunder finally become a father with the introduction of Gorr’s daughter, played by Chris Hemsworth’s actual daughter India Rose. However, it seems as though her father wants to limit her acting while she’s still a child.
Many fans thought that the introduction of Gorr’s resurrected daughter at the end of Thor: Love and Thunder was meant to be a tease for a brand new role for the God of Thunder in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Chris Hemsworth’s Odinson taking on a more fatherly role. However, it seems as though India Rose won’t be returning to the Marvel Universe anytime soon. Hemsworth recently revealed her role was meant to be a “super quick” experience and that he wants to limit her acting as a child, despite how fun it was for him,
“You know, that was originally supposed to be just a super quick little moment in the film, and then the character expanded due to the story changing… I said, ‘Oh, do you want to do some dialog in the film?’ And she’s like, ‘Yeah, cool!’ And she was a pro and loved it,” Hemsworth tells ET. “But I said, ‘There’s plenty of time, sweety. Go to school, horse ride, have fun, be a kid,’… Because once the train moves, it’s pretty hard to get off, and you miss a lot of things.”
Given the controversial nature of child acting, it’s no wonder that Chris Hemsworth would prefer his daughter stay away from it for as long as she can. This doesn’t mean that Thor: Love and Thunder was all for nothing, however. It’s possible Gorr’s daughter could be recast in a future film, or that India Rose could appear in short non-speaking roles. However, perhaps fans should take a page from the God of Thunder and cherish what we have before wishing for bigger and better things.
Is Chris Hemsworth returning to the role of Thor?
When asked about his future as Thor, Hemsworth remained tight-lipped, stating that he is eagerly awaiting Marvel’s creative direction. “I’m waiting to see what they have to offer creatively [and] if there is something new,” he teased
