Donald Glover has long established himself as a multihyphenate talent and in his latest flex, he channels his inner 007 for the upcoming Mr. & Mrs. Smith reboot.
This week, Amazon Prime Video delivered its first look — a very short teaser — of its upcoming slate of programming which includes the new drama series starring Glover and Maya Erskine as the titular characters.
Though details of the show’s plot remain under wraps, the preview — which sees Glover and Erskine handle guns, and run the streets in what feels like a high-speed chase — all the while getting to know each other, provides viewers just enough flair to know what to expect from the series.
Joining the cast in unspecified roles are Parker Posey, Wagner Moura, Michaela Coel, John Turturro, and Paul Dano. Mr. & Mrs. Smith premieres in November on Prime Video.

News of Glover’s latest TV endeavor — following the 2005 film starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as a married couple who are rival assassins — first broke in early 2021.
Though it’s important to note the cast looked much different then, as Emmy winner, Phoebe Waller-Bridge was slated to star alongside Glover but later backed out.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Fleabag star allegedly exited the project due to a difference in creative vision for the series than her counterpart but the pair remain close friends.
In the days that would follow, Glover made the move from FX to Amazon in a lucrative deal worth millions of dollars. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Atlanta star signed a multi-year deal with Amazon worth eight-figures.
The agreement would highlight a content channel spotlighting Glover’s work and other curated content on Amazon Prime Video. In addition, his brother Stephen who wrote and produced Atlanta alongside him also signed an Amazon deal.
Content that has since come from the deal includes Swarm, the story of a young woman named Dre — played by Dominique Fishback (Judas and the Black Messiah) — who’s obsessed with a fictional pop star, with the show surrounding her fandom and the dark and disturbing lengths she’ll go to meet her idol.
In other Donald Glover news, the artist also known as Childish Gambino recently gave a rare performance to celebrate his longtime manager Chad Taylor’s wedding and ran through a few songs during the newlyweds’ first dance.
In a video captured at the wedding, the happy couple can be seen slowly dancing as Glover, backed by a live band performed his song “24.19,” from his 2020 album 3.15.20.
