Today, beabadoobee has returned with a new single, “the way things go,” that will transport you right into the ornate, elegance of a Renaissance painting. The airy, twinkling track showcases the softer side of the alt-pop singer, with breezing vocals and woodland instrumentals. This is her first release since her Clairo-featured single “Glue Song”’ this April.
The single’s video, directed by Jacob Erland, is straight out of a Victorian-era parlor room, with candelabras, gilded frames, flowers, oil paintings, and dollhouses. The Filipina-English singer is dressed in a black ballet dress, surrounded by a troupe of ballerinas in white. The simple choreography is in keeping with the somber, delicate song composition.

Last month, beabadoobee announced the cancellation of her upcoming run of European tour dates after falling ill. But the Beatopia tour is kicking back up later this month in New York and will continue through the fall, including stops at music festivals like Outside Lands and Lollapalooza.
