New details are emerging about Ariana Grande‘s love life!
For those who haven’t been keeping up, news broke earlier this week that the 30-year-old songstress and her now-estranged husband, Dalton Gomez, have been separated since January and are “heading towards divorce” after two years of marriage. As for what went wrong? Entertainment Tonight claimed the two were experiencing problems in their relationship before she left for London to start production for Wicked. Although Dalton and Ariana attempted to reconcile at one point, the long distance became too much – at least, it was for just one person!
According to People on Friday, the decision to separate was not mutual. In fact, Dalton was ready to do whatever it took to make their marriage work – but Ariana seemingly wanted to end things since she already “moved on.” An insider said:
“Dalton is very religious and was committed to making it work, but Ariana had moved on.”

Of course, we already know about the new guy in her life. It came out on Thursday that the R.E.M Beauty creator moved on from Dalton with her Wicked co-star Ethan Salter. People reported that the Broadway actor is “separated from his wife” Lilly Jay after a decade together. Meanwhile, a source for ET insisted he and Ariana “didn’t start dating until both were broken up with their significant others.” Hmm…
However, fans are still raising their eyebrows at the timeline of this relationship. You would think after breaking up with your high school sweetheart, the 31-year-old wouldn’t jump into a new relationship so fast! It was also just two months ago he gushed about his “most loving caring and wonderful” wife in an Instagram post for her first Mother’s Day. So what’s going on here?!
Well, it turns out fans weren’t the only ones stunned by this new romance. According to Page Six, Lilly was “completely blindsided” by Ethan’s relationship with Ariana – and she’s having a tough time with the news now. A source familiar with the situation told the outlet:
“It’s horrible. They were high school sweethearts. They have a baby! She’s a wreck.”
As we mentioned before, the Thank U, Next singer and Ethan have been filming together for the past year. During that time, production insiders told Page Six that Lilly and their son Ezra would visit the set of the Wicked movie. Ariana even spent time with the former couple. So with those details in mind, it’s no wonder she seems to be feeling a bit betrayed! Sources even believe the Victorious alum is the reason Ethan and Lilly “suddenly break up now when nothing appeared wrong between them.” Oof. Ariana has some explaining to do it seems…
