Warning! Contains Spoilers For Knight Terrors: Action Comics #1!

Summary

The villain Cyborg Superman has turned Superboy into a half-man, half-cyborg monster, posing a serious threat to the Superman family. This nightmare version of Conner Kent — “Cyborg Superboy” — is actually Hank Henshaw, or Cyborg Superman. The Superman family is trapped in a nightmarish world where they must confront their most terrifying villain, Cyborg Superman, during the events of Knight Terrors.

One of DC’s most horrifying villains, Cyborg Superman, has just turned Superboy turning into a half-man, half cyborg monster that poses a serious threat to the entire Superman family. As DC continues the Knight Terrors event, readers are seeing some truly terrifying situations unfold, and this is certainly among them.

This terrifying new “Cyborg Superboy” form can be seen in the second story — “The Stuff of Nightmares” by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Mico Suayan, Fico Ossio, Romulo Fajardo Jr., and Dave Sharpe — from Knight Terrors: Action Comics #1. This nightmare version of Conner Kent has been “possessed” by Hank Henshaw, otherwise known as Cyborg Superman.

Cyborg Superman Posesses Superboy

After being terrified by memories of Cyborg Superman, the young Super-Twin Osul specifically turns to Superboy for comfort, asking him to keep him safe through the night. Unfortunately, Osul’s Knight Terrors nightmare is all about Superboy’s body being taken over in a horrific melding of flesh and robotics. Conner Kent has officially become the new Cyborg Superman — or Cyborg Superboy.

Osul Super Twin Is Scared of Cyborg Superman

As the brand-new villain Insomnia’s magic sweeps across the DC Universe, villains and heroes alike are trapped in a dimension of their own nightmares. Some characters have real fears rooted in recent events, such as Osul’s fear of Cyborg Superman. Recently it took the entire Superman family to bring down Cyborg Superman after his consciousness escaped the Phantom Zone. It would be difficult for Osul not to find Cyborg Superman terrifying, considering Hank looks just like Clark — except he’s not quite right, made of twisted metal and shattered flesh. The Superman family seems to have gotten it the absolute worst of Knight Terrors, having to deal with their own personal Freddy Krueger in the form of Cyborg Superman.

Cyborg Superman is a terrifying villain, as his entire gimmick is body horror. He is able to control any piece of machinery with his mind, which has made him a match for both Superman and Darkseid in the past. He’s also recently learned how to fuse his machinery with other people, allowing him to control them like puppets. Osul has every right to be terrified of the man considering he’s far more monstrous than anything Osul has seen before. Especially considering that Cyborg Superman looks identical to Clark Kent, the man who has recently adopted Osul and Otho — as well as Conner Kent, Clark’s clone and the otherwise charming Superboy.

Looking like someone who is supposed to be safe and welcoming but is horribly twisted into something else is a classic horror trope. This nightmare version of Cyborg Superman quickly sweeps through the Superman family, twisting characters like Krypto — and especially Superboy — into literal monsters, all in the name of terrorizing them. While a few heroes have managed to escape Insomnia’s magic and are desperately searching for a way to save the world, the Superman family is still trapped in a nightmarish world where they must deal with their most terrifying villain, Cyborg Superman, as he takes over the body of Superboy.
