The Marvels is set to unite all corners of the MCU with Captain Marvel meeting Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau. However, an original draft for the film originally featured another Marvel hero potentially played by George Clooney!
Despite being rumored to be the shortest MCU project to date, The Marvels is set to be a jam-packed film focused on the sisterhood of Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan. However, it seems as though another Marvel hero may have appeared in the Captain Marvel sequel, with insider MyTimeToShineHello teasing a celebrity cameo cut from the film:
Some speculate the cameo could have been Nova’s MCU debut. However, given the character in The Marvels would have been killed rather quickly, it’s not likely they’d waste a character with so much potential. A more likely idea could be a comic accurate version of Mar-Vell, a character many fans were disappointed with in the first Captain Marvel film. Regardless of who the character was, it seems as though the film now has a much clearer focus on its heroines!
The talent behind The Marvels
The Marvels is set to be a groundbreaking film in many ways. Not only does it feature three powerful female superheroes, but it also has a female director, Nia DaCosta, who previously directed the horror flick Candyman. The movie features a cast that includes Zawe Ashton, Park Seo-joon, Saagar Shaikh, Zenobia Shroff, and Mohan Kapur.
“She has a really calm vibe, too,” Iman Vellani said about DaCosta. “These movies are not easy to make at all. There’s like a million, bajillion little moving pieces. She and [executive producer] Mary [Livanos] did such a great job to keep morale high. Even if there were days where they wanted to rip people’s heads off, they would never show it and never put their stress on anyone else.”
In addition to directing The Marvels, Nia DaCosta also co-wrote the script alongside Megan McDonnell, Elissa Karasik, and Zeb Wells. During an interview, DaCosta described the movie as being “full comic book madness,” teasing what audiences can expect from the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe project.
