Tommy Manzo is reportedly seeking a plea deal for the assault against Real Housewives of New Jersey star Dina Manzo’s husband Dave Cantin.
Previously, prosecutors shared that the couple also experienced a violent home invasion in 2017, which left them robbed, tied up, and beaten. Tommy has been accused of hiring a Mafioso to commit the acts.
Radar Online is reporting this case is actually about a different 2015 mob beating of Dina’s then-boyfriend Dave, who was assaulted outside a New Jersey strip mall on July 18, 2015.
According to The Messenger, the federal charges against Tommy could be resolved soon.
Per court documents, the 58-year-old waived the right to have a speedy trial concerning the attack, which was purportedly carried out by John Perna, an alleged soldier of the Lucchese organized crime family, and his crew member.
“Plea negotiations are anticipated, and both the United States and the defendant desire additional time to negotiate a plea agreement, which would render any grand jury proceedings and any subsequent trial of this matter unnecessary,” read an August 17 order that was signed by federal Judge Kevin McNulty.
This reportedly is the first mention of a possible plea deal. The order was signed after Tommy hired Christopher Adams, his new defense attorney.
Back in 2018, the lawyer struck a plea deal for Qaiser Khan, a Long Island man who, according to prosecutors in New Jersey, was involved in “one of the largest credit card fraud schemes ever charged.”
If Tommy is convicted as charged, he could face a maximum prison sentence of 43 years.
As of now, he’s reportedly free on a bond of $100,000, and an order from the judge gives him until November 17 to reach an agreement with the prosecution.
US Attorney Philip Sellinger’s spokesperson declined to offer a comment, and Tommy’s attorney did not respond to inquiries from the outlet.
Tommy has been accused of hiring John to find Dave and give him a “permanent facial scar” because he dated Dina after the couple’s separation in 2012. Tommy allegedly offered John a good deal on a wedding reception at the family’s catering hall, The Brownstone, a venue that was frequently showcased on the Bravo franchise.
