#Socialites, do you think you could let your parent, much less your father, direct you in a sex scene? Well, according to ‘Training Day‘ actor Ethan Hawke, he claims he had no problem directing his actress daughter Maya Hawke’s sex scenes in their movie ‘Wildcat.’ In fact, the actor said, “We were so comfortable with it. I couldn’t care less.”

While some people believe you shouldn’t mix family and business, Ethan Hawke and his daughter Maya Hawke just look at it as making a dime while spending quality time. Recently, the father and daughter duo spoke with Variety about their new film and what it was like working together.
As Ethan co-wrote and directed the film, his daughter stars in it as a novelist Flannery O’Connor. She also portrays other characters from O’Connor’s famous stories, which include instances of some of the characters becoming intimate with each other.

In this case, one of the scenes in ‘Wildcat‘ is pulled from O’Connor’s short story ‘Good Country People.’ In the depiction, Maya plays the role of a young woman with a wooden leg, who ends up having sex with a Bible salesman (played by Cooper Hoffman) on the floor of a hayloft. The movie also includes another one of O’Connor’s short story called ‘Parker’s Back.’ In this depiction, Maya is seen getting groped and felt up by a man (played by Rafael Casal) in the bed of his pickup truck.
During their interview with Variety, the father and daughter duo are asked how things were while filming ‘Wildcat‘. Responding to what it was like directing his daughter’s sex scenes, Ethan said, “We were so comfortable with it. I couldn’t care less.” However, he noted that he was more so concerned with making sure the two men who played opposite his daughter were taken care of.

Maya said, “We made sure to have an intimacy coordinator on set for them. So that they felt safe and comfortable and not like they were being spied on.” Ethan then jumped in and added, “…by some creepy dad.”
It is reported that the Hawkes’ new film ‘Wildcat‘ first premiered at the Telluride Film Festival, and is one of the few independent projects that were permitted to speak with press amid the current SAG-AFTRA strike. It’s noted that because of the SAG-AFTRA interim agreement, the low-budget film’s star, Maya Hawke, who also stars in ‘Stranger Things,’ was not allowed to speak on the upcoming fifth season of the hit Netflix series, again due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.
