A Florida football coach has suspended himself after he was seen on camera cussing out one of his players and daring him to “do something” while calling him a p—-y a** b-tch multiple times.
The video shows Derek Jenks, 45, getting in the player’s face while he was sitting down and verbally attacking him. It’s not clear what led up to this situation, but Jenks, the head coach and founder of Southwest Florida Preparatory and Technical Institute in Naples, Florida shared a video to the schools Facebook account where he sat down with the player that he cussed out and announced that he will be stepping away from coaching after his actions.

In the apology video, Jenks can be heard saying: “Today I want to take the time to take accountability for my actions that occurred earlier. My actions today were very unneeded, disrespectful and wasn’t a good look as far player/coach personal goes. I hold my players in high accountability for the way they act so I need to be held in the same standards and at the moment I feel that I let my team down, my coaches down and our program down for the actions that I displayed earlier this afternoon. Moving forward i am going to be suspending myself until further notice, holding myself accountable for the way I acted. To my team and to my coaches I am going to do what I can to seek mentorship for myself to become a better coach and better mentor to my players to make sure this never happens again.”
The player that coach Jenks said those harsh words to also spoke during the video and said he forgives his coach for talking to him that way. “The incident that unfolded today was uncalled for and I’m glad that my coach is taking accountability for his actions that is something that’s very very important around here so I’m glad that he’s holding himself to the same standard that he held us to. I do forgive the actions of coach Jenks as he has been a good mentor to me and I’m hoping we can move forward. Go Seahawks!”
