The world lost a bright soul late last year when it was announced that Kevin Conroy had passed away at 66. A new featurette on Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is set to honor his legacy as the Dark Knight.
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm was recently re-released in 4K to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the film. However, that isn’t the only thing the release celebrated. A newly added featurette serves to honor the life and legacy of Kevin Conroy, who voiced Batman across dozens of projects starting with Batman: The Animated Series. The full video can be seen below:
Even outside of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, Kevin Conroy will be remembered for years to come for bringing so much light into the lives of fans. From Batman: The Animated Series to the Arkham video games and even the CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earths, Conroy was a performer to be remembered. Luckily, it seems he always will be.
What to expect from the new animated Batman series
Batman: Caped Crusader is created by a powerhouse trio of Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves. Timm is a veteran of the Batman franchise, having previously worked on Batman: The Animated Series, which is widely considered to be one of the best-animated shows of all time. Abrams and Reeves are also no strangers to the world of superheroes due to their work on the Star Wars sequel trilogy and The Batman, respectively.
Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves said the following about Amazon’s Batman: Caped Crusader revival from Amazon: “We are beyond excited to be working together to bring this character back, to tell engrossing new stories in Gotham City. The series will be thrilling, cinematic and evocative of Batman’s noir roots, while diving deeper into the psychology of these iconic characters. We cannot wait to share this new world.”
