Rappers React to Gucci Mane’s New Song ‘Crash Dummy’

Yoke Lore, the indie-pop project of Adrian Galvin, has released his shapeshifting debut album, Toward A Never Ending New Beginning. The record is a staggering declaration of introspection, self-discovery, and vulnerability, resulting in a 14-track journey that takes listeners deep into his world. Additionally, the singer is wrapping up his Holy Havoc tour — named after the striking single that he shared last month — and will support the Head and The Heart on select dates in November, where you can hear these songs take on a new life onstage.

To celebrate the record’s release, we asked Lore to pick his favorite songs to dance to, and his answers range from indie burners to whispery love songs.

Vagabon – “Lexicon”

The feeling of being unglued, unstuck, it’s like a speedwalk but not quite a run. I’ve always loved her voice — it feels like quick velvet.

Runnner – “Vines To Make It All Worth It”

Runnner is one of my favorite bands right now. I think Noah [Weinman] speaks with the educated twang of someone who is singing to himself.

Hovvdy – “True Love”

Drape yourselves in the harmonies, laze, look at the sun. This song feels just right.

Nilüfer Yanya – “Baby Love”

This song kind of scares me. Nilüfer’s voice is haunting in and of itself. It’s off-kilter in the most beautiful of ways.

Garren Orr – “Out on the Road”

Just a great song. Well written and expertly executed. Garren is a road warrior. He tells it with some real tact and some deep shine.

Matilda Mann – “The Day That I Met You”

I don’t usually go in for the whisper singers, but Matilda’s matter-of-fact lyrics put her far above the rest in my humble opinion. She could whisper to me all day.

Hailaker – “Not Much”

One of my favorite bands right now. They create this kind of emptiness in their music, which gives the feeling of bare and unavoidable honesty. It’s disarming how they use production, or the lack thereof, as a character on these songs.

Helena Deland – “Someone New”

There is a nervous groove that this song lives within. It gives me the feeling of running away from a burning building that held all of my old haunts and hurts inside of it.

Hand Habits – “4th of July”

I have loved watching Hand Habits grow. This song remains the one that hooked me. I love how her storytelling slips into the fantastical. A wizard cosplaying as a musician.

Big Thief – “Masterpiece”

Adrianne [Lenker]’s voice. That’s it. Game over.
