A new Adam Sandler movie recently premiered on Netflix titled You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah. I watched the movie last night and it’s a great film! I really enjoyed it and the movie has set a new record for Sandler.
The comedy-drama currently has a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes making it the actor’s highest-rated film ever. Sandler has made a ton of films over the course of his career, some are great, and some… not some much. But, he’s always looking to have a good time and entertain his fans with the films that he makes. This latest film of his is definitely good and worth watching.
Sandler has starred in a string of great film productions over the years including The Meyerowitz Stories, last year’s basketball movie Hustle, and Uncut Gems, which may be Sandler’s best work to date. These three films are currently rated 93%, 92%, and 91% respectively on Rotten Tomatoes.
You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah is a coming-of-age story that centers on lifelong friends Stacy and Lydia who are planning their dream bat mitzvahs. However, after Lydia discovers Stacy has started dating a boy she has a crush on, the friendship ends and they have to navigate their teenage girl emotions.
Adam Sandler plays the father of one of the girls and I can definitely relate to what he’s going through as this all plays out around him. Idina Menzel also stars in the movie.
The synopsis reads: “Stacy and Lydia are BFFs who’ve always dreamed about having epic bat mitzvahs. But things start to go comically awry when a popular boy and middle school drama threatens their friendship and their rite of passage.”
The film also stars Jackie Sandler, Sadie Sandler, Sunny Sandler, who are Sandler’s actual wife and kids, along with Samantha Lorraine, Dylan Hoffman, Sarah Sherman, Dan Bulla, Ido Mosseri, Jackie Hoffman, and Luis Guzman.
