Jonathan Majors has been a contentious figure in Marvel Cinematic Universe discourse ever since his arrest in March 2023. It seems as though not everyone shares that sentiment though, with Marvel producer Kevin Wright expressing his excitement about Majors’ role in season 2 of the Loki Disney Plus series.
It’s no shock to anyone that Jonathan Majors is set to appear in Loki season 2, with much of the filming for the Disney Plus show having been completed prior to the arrest and the strike preventing Marvel from attempting to shoot coverage around it. It seems as though some Marvel producers like Kevin Wright are ecstatic about Majors’ return to the MCU, praising how the character was used:
“Victor Timely is somebody that we are very, very excited about,” Wright told Entertainment Weekly. “When you look at Kang, he has a very funny comic backstory. He has all these iterations. Timely was one that we’ve always wanted to do in Loki. And I think we’re really excited about how that integrates into the season. It’s a big part of the show.”
It’s currently unclear if Jonathan Majors will continue his role as Kang in the MCU following Loki season 2 given the Disney Plus series is his final filmed appearance as the character. As bad as the strikes are, it’s possible Marvel could use them as an excuse to recast Kang for future appearances. After all, anything is possible in the Multiverse.
Tom Hiddleston is spearheading the cast of Loki season two as the titular God of Mischief. The cast also includes Owen Wilson, Jonathan Majors, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Tara Strong, Eugene Cordero, Rafael Casal, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, Ke Huy Quan and Neil Ellice.
Eric Martin replaced Michael Waldron as the head writer of Loki for its second season. Martin and Waldron also serve as executive producers on the series alongside Tom Hiddleston, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. Benson and Moorhead directed the majority of the episodes for the upcoming season.
Loki season two is expected to premiere October 5th on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
