Born July 21, 2007, Lola is Momoa and Bonet’s oldest child together. Speaking to Esquire in 2019, Momoa recalled how she almost missed Lola’s birth because he was asleep. Apparently, Bonet’s water broke early so the actor wasn’t even expecting to hear from her yet. “There was no air-conditioning in these places, so I was sleeping in the front window,” he shared while sitting across the street from his old apartment in Canada. “I missed about seventy calls. And I woke up and freaked the f*ck out.”
After a last-minute plane ride and race through the airport, Momoa said he made it “in the nick of time.” “I had about two hours with her in the tub, and my baby girl was born,” he said. “Oh, and this is the best part! Benjamin Bratt was on the plane! He was in first class. And when I ran past him, I’m like, ‘Oh, sh*t, Benjamin Bratt!’ And he was like, ‘Go, go, go.'” That’s a hell of a birth story.
Fast forward to Lola’s 11th birthday, Momoa couldn’t help but rave about her on Instagram. He wrote beside some photos of her, “11 years ago it was the greatest day of my life. My baby girl was born. Lola oh Lola. You are my angel Mahalo.”
Now, Lola’s a full-grown teenager at 16 years old, and the thought of her growing up so fast understandably frightens Momoa. Back in 2020, the “Aquaman 2” actor told Men’s Health he cried about Lola turning 13 because he knew she’d eventually start dating. “I’ll just hate it if she brings home some dipsh*t bad boy,” he said, adding, “I’m like, ‘If you find a man who treats you better than I [treat Bonet], good luck!'”
