Michael Oher is officially free from conservatorship with Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy. According to the Daily Mail, Shelby County (Tenn.) Judge Kathleen Gomes “terminated” the conservatorship on Friday.
As we previously reported, the former Baltimore Ravens player, accused Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy of taking Oher into their home as a high school student under a conservatorship that he was tricked into. According to ESPN, the conservatorship granted them legal authority to make business deals on his behalf. Oher, who is now 37 years old is reportedly asking the court to end the Tuohy family’s conservatorship, stop them from using his name and likeness and provide a full account of the their earnings from using his name. In addition to unspecified compensatory and punitive damages, he is also reportedly seeking a “fair” share of profits.

it was also revealed that Oher never received any money from the classic movie, “The Blind Side.” The Tuohy family reportedly negotiated a deal that made them and their two north children millions of dollars in royalties from the Oscar winning film.
Growing up Michael faced a challenging upbringing characterized by poverty, homelessness, and an unstable family environment. He thought his life was taking a positive turn when he was taken in by the Tuohy family, who provided him with stability, care, and support. With their help, he excelled in academics and football during his high school years, but according to the shocking news that was all apart of their plot.
When the news first hit, Oher released a statement saying, “I am disheartened by the revelation shared in the lawsuit today,” Oher said in a statement that was given to PEOPLE by a representative for him. “This is a difficult situation for my family and me. I want to ask everyone to please respect our privacy at this time. For now, I will let the lawsuit speak for itself and will offer no further comment.”

In the 2009 NFL Draft, Michael Oher was selected as the 23rd overall pick by the Baltimore Ravens. He played for the Ravens from 2009 to 2013, primarily as an offensive tackle. Oher was known for his strong blocking skills, particularly in pass protection. One of the most iconic moments of Oher’s career came during Super Bowl XLVII in 2013 when he was a member of the Baltimore Ravens. The team emerged victorious, defeating the San Francisco 49ers and securing the championship.
