Candiace Dillard Bassett claimed Gordon Thornton contacted her husband Chris with “tea” about his marriage issues with Mia – before news broke that the Real Housewives of Potomac couple had separated.
Meanwhile, another source claimed Gordon was blindsided by the separation, and he previously believed everything was fine.
On the Right Answers Mostly podcast, Candiace asserted that Mia’s conversation about the divorce filing was “news to [Candiace].”
Candiace revealed she was “not aware that they were having marital issues” until Gordon texted and called her husband Chris and Wendy Osefo‘s husband Eddie.
According to Candiace, Gordon told the other husbands he was “leaving” Mia, and he had already “moved out.”
“I was not aware that they were having marital issues until Gordon, first he texted, and was calling Chris and Eddie and was like, ‘Mia, I’m leaving her and I moved out,’” dished Candiace.
“This was like last month,” said Candiace, adding that Gordon expressed his desire to give information about Mia to Candiace and Wendy.
Candiace continued, “And G was like, ‘I want to give Candiace and Wendy all the tea so they can know what’s going on.’ And I was like listen, I will get involved in a lot of s**t… I am not. I don’t want that karma on me. I am not getting involved in anybody’s marriage.”
Candiace also added that Mia had “never talked about” the marital issues with her during the time they spent together.
Despite Mia’s account, a source told TMZ that Gordon was blindsided by the separation, and he believed everything was okay – until he was served court docs in August concerning Mia’s wish to be legally separated.
The insiders also claimed Gordon is now annoyed by Mia’s public comments about the issue, as he feels the reality star is fooling everybody.
He’s also allegedly irritated that Mia was recently posting positive messages about Gordon until Friday, and he hasn’t signed any papers yet – though Mia’s decision to go public is perhaps a way to pressure him.
The Housewife recently told PEOPLE, “Like all marriages, ours has had its ups and downs. At this time, Gordon and I are separated, but my family is my number one priority, and I am committed to doing whatever it takes to make sure we are okay. We ask that you respect our privacy and give us the time and space to figure things out.”
