Last year’s Toei Animation booths at NYCC left viewers awestruck by the massive balloon displays for Monkey D. Luffy and the dragon from Dragon Ball. (See above) And for 2023, Toei is at it again in 2023. This year’s booth will spotlight Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Digimon and two never before seen (in North America, anyway) balloons: the worldwide debut of a new Goku balloon and the North American debut of the Monkey D. Luffy Gear Five balloon.
These titans will loom over a booth that includes a pop-up shop, life-sized statues, a card game demo, and more. Attendees can also experience multiple panels that celebrate these the three long-running franchises.
On the show floor Toei will host two booths, #2635 & #2821. Booth #2635 will feature Dragon Ball and Digimon, while booth #2821 will focus on One Piece AND a special display that will be revealed during a major One Piece franchise announcement on October 4th. The Toei Animation X Dim Mak Pop-Up Shop in Booth #2831 presents a curated selection of merchandise, including apparel, skate decks and enamel pins, from One Piece, Dragon Ball Super, Digimon and other Toei Animation properties – plus the first drop of all-new One Piece Gear Five designs, including apparel and a skate deck.
If Digimon is your jam, life-sized statues of Agumon and Gabumon will make a special appearance at booth #2635 inside their Digimon room.
And the panels are packed. Thursday, October 12, at 12:45 pm on the Empire Stage, attendees can experience Toei Animation’s first industry panel of the weekend, the Dragon Ball Special Panel. On Friday, October 13, at 1:45 pm in Room 409 Toei will host Digimon Adventure – Past & Future Panel, led by host Justin Rojas. This special Q&A panel offers North American fans the opportunity to hear from Japanese guest Hiromi Seki, producer of the original “Digimon Adventure” and “Digimon Adventure 02” TV series, as well as a look at the new movie “Digimon Adventure 02 The Beginning,” which premieres in the United States, Latin American, Australia and New Zealand this fall.
Saturday, October 14, at 6:30 pm on the Main Stage, Toei Animation and Crunchyroll host “One Piece” Dub Villains Panel, which will kick-off with the English dub premiere of “One Piece” Episode 1015. Following the screening, host Jacki Jing will lead a Q&A with a group of English dub voice actors behind some of the anime series’ most iconic villains.
All in all there’s a LOT to do for fans of these beloved franchises.
