21 Savage won’t have to worry about ICE moving forward! On Friday (Oct. 6), his lawyer Charles Kuck told AP News the London-born rapper is now a permanent U.S. resident. This means, in part, that 21 can now travel internationally — a right he exercised this weekend in Canada!

The life update comes several year after Immigration and Custom Enforcement agents detained 21 Savage, birth name She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, in February 2019. At the time, he spent 10 days in a detention center in Georgia for overstaying his visa.

AP reports that it had expired in 2006. The artist, 30, later revealed that his mother brought him into the U.S. when he was seven years old. ICE arrested him in a targeted operation.

Months later, in October, he told AP that child immigrants “should automatically become citizens” because of the lack of visa knowledge and choice as a minor.

“When you’re a child, you don’t know what’s going on,” he said. “Now, you grow up and got to figure it out. Can’t get a job. Can’t get a license. I’m one of the lucky ones who became successful. It’s a lot of people who can’t,” 21 Savage said in 2019.

According to his lawyer, Savage’s immigration court proceedings are a requirement of the past. He is a lawful permanent resident.

On Saturday, the Atlanta-bred rapper shared a video montage of past and present moments, hinting at a return to London. But no additional details were shared.

AP confirmed the possible return home for the rapper. But in the meantime, 21 Savage gave his first international performance on Saturday. He joined Drake in Toronto for the Canada-leg of his tour.

The Champagne Papi later took to his Instagram feed to express thanks to the fans for “the best tour of [his] life,” also sharing concert footage.

“Savage this was hands down the best moment I ever had in my career on stage. Congrats my brother the world is yours,” Drake wrote at the end of his caption.

In a separate post, Drake shared a carosel of pictures with Savage at what appears to be his Toronto mansion. The caption read, “Waited a long time for this flick…two G block babies.”
