Shannon Beador has enrolled herself into a treatment program weeks after her DUI and hit-and-run arrest in Newport Beach, California.
Following her controversial arrest, which went down after she hit a house while intoxicated with her dog, a golden retriever named Archie, in the car, the Real Housewives of Orange County star, 59, is said to be taking “responsibility and accountability” for her behavior — while also deciding to move forward with her “Tres Amigas” comedy tour.
According to an October 9 report from TMZ, Shannon recently signed up for an outpatient “behavioral wellness program with an alcohol component” and won’t be drinking during her upcoming tour with RHOC castmates Tamra Judge, 56, and Vicki Gunvalson, 61.
Although drinking has been a hot topic on the tour in the past, Shannon and her co-stars are expected to focus more on their friendship when they return to the stage on November 16 in Phoenix, Arizona.
As friends reportedly worry that Shannon, who appears to be nursing a broken arm and bruising on her face, is “depressed,” a number of her castmates have reacted to the news of her arrest, including Gina Kirschenheiter, 39, who Shannon was highly critical of following her own DUI. However, after acknowledging the “irony of [Shannon’s arrest] is major,” she had kind and supportive words for her co-star.
“When you’re that out of control or you’re spiraling and you’re that down and you’re pushing people away and you’re losing friends because of your behavior, you need someone, and sometimes maybe it is an unexpected person to reach in and pull you up, and so I feel this obligation … to reach down and to like pull her up a bit and say, ‘You know what Shannon, I’ve got you,’” she said on her podcast, Orange Country.
Emily Simpson, 47, also weighed in, saying on Access Hollywood‘s Housewives Nightcap that she thought it was a joke at first.
“I think the most important thing is what is her next step that’s going to help her get to a better place and a healthier and happier place in her life? Because I feel like this is kind of rock bottom,” she added.
The Real Housewives of Orange County season 17 reunion concludes with part two on Wednesday, October 11, at 8/7c on Bravo.
