The Newport Beach Police Department’s animal control unit has closed its investigation into the DUI and hit-and-run arrest of Shannon Beador.
Weeks after the Real Housewives of Orange County cast member, 59, faced claims of animal endangerment after driving under the influence with her dog, Archie, in the car, an officer has confirmed she is no longer under investigation.
Before Shannon enrolled in an outpatient treatment program, taking “full responsibility for her actions,” the reality star and mother of three was slammed by PETA for putting Archie in the line of fire.
“If your dog or child is in a vehicle or even waiting for you at home, that’s an extra incentive never to drive drunk or buzzed, although looking out for strangers and for yourself should already be enough to convince you not to drink and drive,” PETA’s Senior Vice President Lisa Lange told Radar Online. “PETA’s glad Shannon Beador and her dog are safe now, and we hope they get over the trauma swiftly.”
Around the same time, the NBPD’s animal control unit confirmed they were investigating Shannon’s arrest, which saw her pretending to be on a walk with Archie in an effort to evade police.
But now, the case is closed.
“Our animal control officer looked into the incident, and there was no injury to the dog and no crime related to the dog,” NBPD public information officer Sgt. Steve Oberon told Radar Online on October 11.
As RHOC fans may recall, an insider connected to Shannon insisted the dog was “completely normal” after her DUI, despite the fact that she hit a home.
“She’s going to have him checked out to be safe,” the insider said. “[But Archie is] eating, sleeping, and playing normally.”
Following the closing of the case against her, Shannon is headed not only to treatment but also to her upcoming “Tres Amigas” comedy tour with Vicki Gunvalson, 61, and Tamra Judge, 56, which has a scheduled show in Arizona next month.
While the tour used to be alcohol-focused, recent reports have stated that Shannon will not be drinking and that the premise will be on the ladies’ friendships.
The Real Housewives of Orange County season 17 concluded on Wednesday. No word yet on a season 18 cast.
