MTV personality Kailyn Lowry is publicly confirming that she and her boyfriend, Elijah Scott, welcomed a son last year. The 31-year-old is now a mother of five boys!

Kail Finally Acknowledges “Rumors About [Her] Fifth Son”
Kailyn shared the news on Friday (Oct. 13) through her podcast, Barely Famous. She specifically acknowledged that she would be addressing the rumors on the matter, which were reported on by outlets like The Sun.
“I have not addressed the rumors about my fifth son, so I can do that now.”
Continuing, Kail noted that she and Elijah welcomed a baby boy named Rio, whose birth was “traumatizing.”
“We didn’t have time with him when he came out of my ‘kitty cat.’ He had to go right to the NICU — I literally got to hold him for maybe three seconds before they took him to the NICU. And I was so upset.”
She added that Rio had “probably like six” nurses attending to him, and she later emphasized that the medical professionals “didn’t even put him all the way in [her] arms” before taking him to the NICU.
“I only got to hold him for like three seconds. They didn’t even put him all the way in my arms. It was kind of like, ‘Here’s your son. You can look at him real quick, touch him as if you’re holding him, but then they swept him away.’ Which, thankfully they did, because he was in really good hands.”
The Teen Mom 2 Star Wanted To Share The Exciting News Her Own Way
During a chat with PEOPLE on the matter, Kailyn Lowry acknowledged that she was determined to share the news “on [her] own terms.”
“I wanted to be able to tell my own story on my own terms and kind of share what information I wanted to share instead of being within a contractual obligation or storyline.”
Lowry also added, “I feel like it was ripped out from under me time and time again. … At this point, I can at least try to do it my way.”
She also called the development a “pleasant surprise” that was “a true light” after a rough year.
“As chaotic as it was finding out about being pregnant again, he’s been such an incredible baby that it really was a true light at the end of a really dark year for me. … He has been really a joy for all of us.”

Looking Back On Kailyn Lowry’s Parenthood Journey
Fans may recall seeing Kailyn’s motherhood story unfold on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant back in the day, chronicling her experience welcoming her firstborn — Issac, 13 — with ex-boyfriend Jo Rivera.
While later starring on Teen Mom 2, she married Javi Marroquin and welcomed another son named Lincoln, 9. Eventually, she had two more children — Lux, 6, and Creed, 3 — with Chris Lopez.
Now, Kail is a full-blown mother of five and seems to be embracing this brand-new chapter!
