I’ve got a new trailer to share with you for the upcoming documentary George A. Romero’s Resident Evil. The film focuses on Romero’s attempt to make a film adaptation of the hit video game Resident Evil and why it fell apart.
Romero pitched his Resident Evil movie in 1998 to Constantin Films, and it looks like there were a lot of reasons why the project didn’t get made. The doc comes from director Brandon Salisbury and it aims to “immerse the audience in a cinematic horror aesthetic.”
The film will pay homage to Romero’s style and the game itself. It even takes place in a mansion that will be reminiscent of Resident Evil‘s Spencer Mansion, and it will be shot to mimic Romero’s filmmaking style.
Romero’s original script for the film has leaked online, and it stayed relatively close to the source material. It seems like it would’ve been really cool to see Romero actually make it. Unfortunately, Capcom didn’t care for the script due to its violent content. This is going to be an interesting documentary!
