James Cameron’s classic 1986 sci-fi action film Aliens is getting the 4K treatment according to a recent report that’s been making the rounds online. There are two other Cameron films getting the 4K makeover, which also includes Arnold Schwarzenegger’s action comedy True Lies, and the sci-fi drama The Abyss.

We know that Cameron has been involved 4K remaster of The Abyss, so I imagine he’s also involved with remasters of True Lies and Aliens as well.

Aliens was the first R-rated movie that I ever watched in theaters, and as a kid, it blew me away! Aliens is also considered one of the greatest sequels of all time. While the original film showcased the terror of one extraterrestrial being hunting a spaceship’s crew in a confined setting, Aliens amplifies the stakes by introducing a colony of the titular creatures.

Set 57 years after the events of the first movie, the plot follows Ellen Ripley, once again portrayed by Sigourney Weaver, as she awakens from stasis. Reluctantly, she agrees to join a team of colonial marines on a mission to the now-colonized planet where her crew first encountered the alien species, only to discover that the entire colony has been overtaken by the xenomorphs.

I’m pretty excited that Aliens is finally getting a 4K Ultra HD release! There aren’t any details on when that release is coming, but I’ll be looking forward to it!
