RHOSLC star Monica Garcia reveals how she learned of Jen Shah’s telemarketing scheme and why it was “scary” to tell the truth about the crimes.
Monica Garcia claims that Jen Shah was the one who informed her of her now-infamous telemarketing scheme long before the former RHOSLC star’s March 2021 arrest.
According to Monica, Jen confided in her about the nationwide telemarketing scheme that targeted the elderly when she was moonlighting as the imprisoned Bravo star’s assistant.
“How did you find out what she was doing, like, for real?” Andy Cohen asked on Tuesday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live.
“For real, she honestly told me,” the RHOSLC star replied.
Andy Cohen then peppered Monica for more details, with the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City newbie happily obliging.
“She told me how her scheme works, and she asked me to be a part of it,” she claimed. “I said, ‘Absolutely not,’ and that’s when I reached out to my friend in the Secret Service.”
Monica then clarified that she didn’t kick-start the legal case against Jen.
“Here’s the thing with that: I didn’t start this case,” Monica shared. “I wasn’t even a key witness; I was subpoenaed on a long list of other people.”
Monica added: “There were times [when] it was a little scary for sure … but it was the right thing to do. Everyone calls me a rat and whatever. Squeak squeak.”
Jen Shah is currently serving a five-year prison sentence at a Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas.
Despite Monica’s claims, not everyone in the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast believes her story about playing a role in Jen being behind bars.
After Tuesday’s episode of WWHL, Lisa Barlow tweeted:
“I don’t trust the Secret Service if they give civilians information on open federal cases. #WWHL #RHOSLC.”
