Cleopatra Ent. has revealed the first trailer for an upcoming indie sci-fi action film titled Lion-Girl, which comes from Japanese filmmaker Kurando Mitsutake. This movie looks like a bonkers good time! The creative team must’ve had a hell of a fun time making this! This looks like punk rock filmmaking.
The film is based on characters created by Japanese manga legend Go Nagai. The story is set in the year 20XX, after mysterious meteors bombard the Earth, which started “an age of horrific monsters known as ‘Anoroc’, hunting and killing humans for their lifeforce. The survivors of a meteor shower are left to defend themselves against these monsters, but the Earth has one last hero to help them, and her name is ‘Lion-Girl’.
One of the taglines for the film reads: “Thought you had enough superhero movies? Think again.” The film was shot entirely in Los Angeles during the height of the Covid lockdown, and it was produced with Tokyo’s Toei Video.
Cleopatra Ent. will release Lion-Girl direct-to-VOD / Blu-ray starting on November 7th, 2023.
