Another Bravo marriage bites the dust! Vito Scalia, the husband of RHONJ alum Lauren Manzo, files for divorce after 8 years of marriage.
The U.S. Sun reports that Vito Scalia and Lauren Manzo have officially called it quits.
Vito Scalia, 37, filed for divorce from his wife, Lauren Manzo, 35, after eight years of marriage on September 5, 2023. In his court filing, the 37-year-old listed the reason behind their divorce.
“The parties have experienced irreconcilable differences for a period of at least six months, which has caused the breakdown of their marriage, and it is apparent that the marriage should be dissolved as there is no reasonable prospect of reconciliation,” he stated.
The now former couple continue to reside together in their Wayne, New Jersey home that they mutually purchased in 2016.
Lauren Manzo, the daughter of RHONJ OG Caroline Manzo, was served with divorce papers at their home on September 29, 2023.
The 35-year-old former Manzo’d With Children star retained a lawyer, who informed the court that he would be presenting Lauren in the divorce case. The attorney made it known that he would be helping with issues concerning child custody, care, and support as well as “all financial related issues, including, without limitation, alimony, equitable distribution, and counsel fees.”
The former RHONJ couple share one child together: a six-year-old daughter, Marchesa “Markie” Scalia.
Before filing for divorce in September, Vito filed a Marital Settlement Agreement on July 26.
Per one NJ family law group, “A Marital Settlement Agreement (MSA) is a legal document used in New Jersey that spells out the terms of a divorce and provides a framework for the relationship between former spouses after divorce.”
EForms.com also explained:
A New Jersey marital settlement agreement is a legal arrangement that has been executed by a married couple with the purpose of laying out their rights and obligations after the dissolution of their marriage. A settlement agreement can be established before or during the divorce process in court.
While it’s not required, it is recommended that the spouses obtain legal counsel to ensure a fair and mutually beneficial agreement. This marital settlement agreement will cover topics such as alimony, child support and custody, insurance, division of property and other assets, liabilities and debts, and future rights and responsibilities.
This news comes just months after Lauren Manzo clapped back on Instagram about inquiries into her marriage to Vito Scalia.
In July, the Manzo family attended a family wedding at The Brownstone. Lauren and her family posted photos from the day on their Instagram pages.
Lauren Manzo posted several photos of her and her daughter, Marchesa “Markie” Scalia; however, Vito was noticeably missing from any of the photos.
Naturally, Bravo fans began questioning the state of Lauren and Vito’s marriage in the comment section of Lauren’s post.
The former Real Housewives of New Jersey staple clapped back in the comment section of her post, writing:
“I haven’t been on TV in 7 years…I’m allowed to choose to keep aspects of my life private, especially after having a child. If you don’t like it, then stay away from my page. It’s very simple.”
Lauren and Vito began dating in 2009 after knowing each other for four years. The two met thanks to Lauren’s older brother, Albie Manzo, who is Vito’s best friend and college roommate. They eventually tied the knot in July 2015.
Back in March, Lauren gave fans Bravo fans a rare glimpse into family life with Vito. She shared a snap of her, Vito, and their daughter Markie on her Instagram Story as they celebrated Vito’s 37th birthday.
While fans can only see Vito’s arm and shirt in the post, it’s the first sighting of him on Lauren’s social media in many years.
Just this week, fans began once again to question the status of Lauren and Vito’s marriage as he is visibly absent from Albie Manzo’s wedding festivities in Italy.
AllAboutTRH can confirm that Lauren and Vito haven’t been together as a couple for years.
