The obscure 1940s comic Cat-Man is looking to make a comeback as an animated project thanks to YouTuber Austin McConnell. He spent a year developing an animated pilot episode for The Sensational Cat-Man, which you can watch in its entirety below.

Cat-Man was created by artist Irwin Hasen and the character Kitten was Charles M. Quinlan. Cat-Man aka David Merrywether “was raised in Burma by a tigress after his parents had been killed. From living with tigers for years, he gained superhuman abilities, such as super-strength, enhanced agility, natural night vision, and the legendary ‘nine lives’ of cats.”

David eventually returned to the U.S. “where he was horrified by criminals preying on the innocent. To stop this, he became a private investigator. Later, he would become an officer in the US Army. Assigned to stateside duties, he donned an olive and orange costume with a black cat-head symbol and became Cat-Man.”

Cat-Man is now in the public domain, so McConnell decided to have some fun with it. He hopes his web-based animated series will breathe new life into this classic character while paying homage to his comic book history.
