Well, not so good news for Jonathan Majors. This Wednesday, New York judge Michael Gaffey denied the motion to dismiss his assault case.
Majors appeared in court virtually, as the judge mentioned that the actor is currently out of state. While appearing on a remote link, he did not speak during the 10-minute hearing in Manhattan Criminal Court.
The ruling now paves the way for Majors to stand trial. It also marks the latest legal blow against the Marvel star in a case centered on his March 25 incident with his ex-girlfriend, who has recently been identified as Grace Jabbari.
As previously reported, the entertainer was arrested in Manhattan on March 25 and charged with assault and aggravated harassment following the alleged domestic dispute with his e Jabbari.
Around the time of arrest, Jabbari told officers that she was strangled and assaulted by Majors. She claims she was taken to the hospital with “minor injuries to her head and neck” after an alleged altercation that occurred in a taxi. Defense attorneys for Majors allege it was Jabbari who assaulted Majors, and “not the other way around.” His team also suggested that “racial bias” has played a role in the investigation and even called the case a “witch hunt” against the Emmy-nominated actor.
Through his attorney Priya Chaudhry, Majors has denied all the allegations against him and argued that he was actually victim to Jabbari, who he said scratched and hit him during a dispute.
Majors has pleaded not guilty to the four charges against him. If convicted of misdemeanor charges of harassment and assault, he faces up to one year in jail.

Interestingly enough, this all comes a day after it was revealed that prosecutors and police had discussed charging her with domestic assault. However, the Manhattan district attorney’s office said Tuesday in court filings that any discussion is over and has been since September.
“On September 8, 2023, and September 12, 2023, the prosecution informed the NYPD that the People would decline to prosecute any charges brought by the NYPD against Ms. Jabbari related to the belated allegations made by defendant [Majors] regarding the incident on March 25, 2023,” the filing says per NBC news.
The filing ultimately means that Miss Jabbari will ultimately not be prosecuted for any crime in this case.
