Days after his tragic death, actress Ione Skye has revealed the last text message exchange she shared with her former co-star and friend, Matthew Perry.
Taking to Instagram, Skye, 53, shared a carousel of images, starting with an adorable throwback of the pair.
”My last exchange a week ago,” she captioned the post. “I’m very very sad. Loved this guy.”

The next slides featured text messages between the pair in which they reconnected and even spoke fondly in reference to memories they shared.
One text, dated October 15, saw Perry sweetly reaching out after a song reminded him of his fellow actress.
“Hi! I hope all is well. I was meditating (I meditate now) and ‘In Your Eyes’ started playing,” Perry wrote. “And I instantly thought of how beautiful you are.”

Among the texts, the pair referred to nice memories they shared, Skye claiming “I only have nice memories with you”.
Neither could have predicted that the memories discussed would be the last they created together.
Perry and Skye met while co-starring in Perry’s 1988 film debut A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon, the pair remained friends for decades, right up until Perry’s death.

This is the second loss for Skye, the duo’s fellow co-star River Phoenix – who played the lead role of Jimmy Reardon in the film – died of a drug overdose in 1993, a year before Perry landed his breakout role in Friends.
Fans were quick to respond to the post with their condolences.
“How lucky were you to have that beautiful experience on set with both River Phoenix and Matthew Perry,” one wrote. “What amazing memories you must have. Sending you love during this difficult time.”
“So heartbreaking, I’m sorry for your loss,” another wrote, while others reminisced Perry’s fabulous portrayal of Fred Roberts in the 1988 film.

She is one of many stars who have paid homage to the 52-year-old actor. Perry was found dead in the afternoon on Saturday at his home in L.A after a reported drowning.
Speaking to People, his family said they are “heartbroken.”
“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother,” they said.
“Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend. You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love.”
