Lil Kim had a gift for fans attending her performance at ONE Musicfest, launching her panties into the crowd during the middle of her set.

The show went down on Saturday (October 28) in Atlanta. At one point, the legendary rapper began teasing the audience.

“What do I got for y’all next?” she asked, and then immediately answered: “Panties coming down.”

“How about this?” she said, as she threw them into the audience. You can view the clip below.

Not everyone was feeling the stagecraft, and comments online were mixed. But scrutiny is nothing new for Lil Kim. The Brooklyn native has faced plenty of adversity and lived several lives in her long and storied career — and she’ll soon be telling them all in her new memoir.

In late July, Kim posted a photo of a manuscript of her upcoming memoir The Queen Bee and revealed that it’d finally been turned into the publisher.

“It’s been a long journey beehive, edits are finally done,” she wrote. “Thank you to my bestie/soulmate @themarcjacobs for doing my forward.”

The book was co-written by longtime music journalist Kathy Iandoli, and will detail Kim’s “complicated high-profile relationships, the misogynistic industry she fought to change through sex positivity, the challenging double standards of self-image and beauty in the spotlight, and the momentous act of loyalty that ultimately landed her in prison,” per a press release from the publisher.

Of Lil Kim’s legion of fans, many are in the music industry. Ahead of her birthday in July, GloRilla paid homage to the Queen Bee by recreating her iconic bikini-clad squat pose.

While there was spirited banter in the comments section, Glo won Kim’s approval as the female rap pioneer left a smiling cat with heart-eyes emoji, along with a fire emoji and heart emoji.

Lil Kim first struck the pose in 1996 in promotional poster for her debut album Hard Core. The album’s cover art showed her striking a provocative pose on top of a polar bear rug while wearing lingerie.

Since the ’90s, many female rappers have borrowed inspiration from the Brooklyn native, including Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, and even newcomers such as Coi Leray and DreamDoll.

In May, Benzino’s daughter recreated Kim’s famous pose on the cover of her sophomore album COI. “Introducing my second album COI dropping June 23rd,” she wrote on Twitter when first unveiling it to the world.

As for DreamDoll, during Hot 97’s Summer Jam in 2022, she wore a revealing one-sleeved jumpsuit and nipple cover, similar to the outfit that Lil Kim wore to the 1999 MTV Music Awards.
