The next installment of Artist Friendly arrives this week. Following conversations with Cleo Wade, DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia, and Jonny Capeci of Nightly, Mickey Guyton will join Joel Madden on the latest episode of the series.
Guyton represents a new crop of artists coming out of Nashville. Her 2021 debut album, Remember Her Name — titled in tribute to Breonna Taylor, who was killed by Louisville police officers in 2020 — pushed convention as a Black country singer and possessed a sharp, powerful message. In July, she also shared the affectionate single “Nothing Compares To You” with Kane Brown, which was proceeded by a heart-warming music video.
