Summary
Warning! Contains Spoilers For Batman/Catwoman: The Gotham War: Red Hood #2!
While Batman and Joker have had an intense relationship over the years, the hatred Red Hood has for Joker makes Batman’s feelings about the Clown look tame. This is why it’s all the more surprising that in Red Hood’s time of need, it’s not Batman who comes to save him, but the Joker.
Batman/Catwoman: The Gotham War: Red Hood #2 – by Matthew Rosenberg, and Nikola Cizmesija – finds Jason Todd’s life in peril, with the most unexpected savior coming to his aid: the Joker.
When word of Red Hood being kidnapped reaches Joker, he swears to save Red Hood, stopping Red Hood from being killed by the Scarecrow, battling the villain to save Jason’s life from a situation Batman put Jason in.
Joker Is The Only Gotham Villain Who Gets To Kill Jason Todd
Recently the Joker has been at war with another Joker for the fate of Gotham City. While readers have yet to see the final reveal of exactly who the real Joker is, what’s clear is that the war between these two Clown Princes will put everyone in Gotham in danger. One of the Jokers has been planning something big – and apparently it involves Red Hood. Joker famous killed Jason Todd, and since Jason’s resurrection as Red Hood, he has continually tried to return the favor by killing Joker. While Red Hood might have sworn off his quest for vengeance now and again, in the end, he always seems to return to it.
Joker doesn’t seem interested in killing Jason a second time, treating him as mostly an obstacle to be avoided, much to Jason’s annoyance. This seems to have changed, though, with whatever plan Joker has requiring Red Hood, which means in a bizarre twist Joker is going to have to save Red Hood from villains like Scarecrow – as well as heroes like Batman. One of the darker moments in recent comics was when Batman changed Red Hood’s brain chemistry against his will, making it, so Red Hood can not do anything involving high adrenaline, endangering Jason like never before, not even during his tenure as Robin, which ended in his death.
Joker Promises To Fix What Batman Did To Red Hood
If Red Hood tries to fight someone, or puts himself in any kind of situation that makes his adrenaline spike, then he is overcome with fear. The first time Jason experienced this fear he thought it was Scarecrow’s fear toxin. This has completely ruined Jason’s ability to be a hero and also apparently ruined Joker’s plans for Red Hood. Joker swears that he will find a way to undo what Batman has done to Red Hood, reversing Batman and Joker’s roles in Red Hood’s life in a surprising twist. Despite Jason’s justified hatred of the Joker, it seems that if Red Hood ever wants to fight crime again, he needs to depend on his nemesis.
