For Geeked Week, Netflix unveils the trailer for the animated sequel show Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, featuring the return of a major character.
Summary
The Jurassic World sequel show Jurassic World: Chaos Theory has been revealed in a new trailer. The Netflix animated show will be the latest spinoff from the Jurassic Park franchise, which began with the original 1993 movie (adapted from the 1990 Michael Crichton book of the same name) and has since expanded to include six movies and two short films. Chaos Theory will be a direct sequel to the animated show Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous, which ran for five seasons through 2022 and followed young campers being beset by dinosaurs on Isla Nublar.

The trailer for the animated Jurassic World spinoff largely focuses on one intense scene of a helicopter chasing a T-Rex across a busy highway. However, a surprise final moment seemingly confirms the return of Camp Cretaceous lead character Darius Bowman, who was voiced by Paul-Mikél Williams.
Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous’ Darius Bowman Explained
While the updated animation style and potential time jump for the show make it difficult to confirm if Darius is the specific character returning, it would make the most sense for him to be the character in the lead of Chaos Theory. Darius was one of the most important characters in the previous show. His arc also has plenty of room to grow after the Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous ending.
Isla Nublar is also the setting of the original Jurassic Park.
At the beginning of the show, Darius was depicted as a geeky and passionate gamer who worked hard to win a chance to attend the camp on Isla Nublar via a dinosaur-themed game. His interest in dinosaurs became very important for maintaining the survival of the group once they found themselves lost on the island amid the collapse of the Jurassic World theme park. Over the course of the show, he developed a talent for leadership, which became even more important when the group was forced to band together to fight the corrupt Mantah Corp.
It is unclear exactly how Darius might fit into the storyline of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory. However, the presence of a dinosaur on a freeway would seem to imply that the show takes place after the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (something that was implied by the final Cretaceous episodes) and possibly Jurassic World Dominion, which is the most recent theatrical installment in the franchise. Those are the movies that saw a horde of dinosaurs unleashed upon the human world, so Darius may be using his expertise to help ease that transition.
