Benzino is feeling some type of way about his daughter Coi Leray and legendary radio host turned podcaster Angie Martinez “pushing a false narrative” about him “being envious” about his daughter’s success. Zino says, “They want me to crash out, but I’m not going backwards.”

It’s no secret that Benzino and his daughter Coi Leray have had a rocky relationship, but as of late, things have appeared to be going great with Zino showing mad love to his daughter as she climbs the Hip-Hop ladder and even him being there when she gets into beefs with fellow emcees. But before recent times, as Coi’s star began to rise, she’s been seen going back and forth with her father online, calling him out for fake love and “trying to tarnish [her] life.”
As mentioned, despite the two appearing back on good terms this year, Coi Leray is now telling Angie Martinez how she feels as though her father and founder of the legendary publication The Source (and more), Benzino, is “envious” of all the success she’s had in the game.

During a recent episode of her podcast ‘Angie Martinez IRL,’ Angie asked Coi, “How does your father deal with the success, ’cause that’s gotta be triggering for him in a lot of ways too.” Coi said, “At first it was rocky because I felt like he couldn’t handle my success. I felt like it did come from an envious place, which is okay, ’cause he’s human, and that’s fine. But I felt like he still wants… Like he’s one of those people that feels like, ‘Yo, I still have a story to tell. I feel like I have to say something, let me say something.’”
Firing back at Coi and calling out Angie for “not liking [him,” Benzino took to his Instagram to repost the clip and leave a lengthy caption, that began, “This has to be the most ridiculous I’ve heard in my entire life on this earth. How tf can be envious towards someone I RAISED, NURTURED, PROVIDED FOR, INFLUENCED, AND LOVE VERY DEARLY???”
He added, “This industry and the internet have completely messed up the minds of this young generation. I’m tired of her pushing a false narrative about who I am and what I’ve done as a father. In my 40 years in hip hop I’ve never ever seen an artist DOG their parents out the was Coi does and it’s embarrassing and sad…and one last thing, @angiemartinez knows she doesn’t like me so she’s just being manipulative and messy. They want me crash out but I’ve worked on myself so hard that I ain’t going backwards for ANYTHING, but what I won’t do is allow ANYONE to slander my name and push a false narrative on my reputation and who I am. I’ve shed too many blood, sweat and tears, survived street wars and indictments. Nope no more.”

He followed up his first post with a second that featured a note screenshot that read, “It’s so easy to hop in the bad dad bandwagon because 75 percent of Black women and girls were without their dad in any capacity. WELL I FEEL FOR ALL OF Y’ALL, BUT THAT WAS NOT THE CASE FOR COI LERAY! I NAMED HER THAT, NONE OF [Y’ALL] WERE THERE SO PLEASE CHILL.”
He captioned the note, “None of y’all was there when I was providing for her her mother, her two brother who were mine and her two older brother I raised who wasn’t mine so keep your negative opinions to yourself. I’m a real dad and I’m proud of that. STOP THE . SALUTE TO ALL DADS WHO HANDLE THEIR BUSINESS WHILE GOING UP AGAINST THE STREETS AND THE SYSTEM, SHIT’S WICKED OUT HERE FOR BLACK MEN.”
