It’s long been rumored that Kevin Feige would be taking an active role in developing a brand new Star Wars project. However, according to the Marvel Studios president himself, the movie is no longer happening.

There’s been a lot of talk recently about Kevin Feige becoming more involved in Star Wars, with a recent rumor even stating he’d step down as Marvel Studios president to helm the franchise. It seems these whispers may not be as strong as many claim. When recently asked if his proposed Star Wars film was still happening, Feige simply said “No”.

It’s certainly understandable why Kevin Feige’s Star Wars project wouldn’t be moving forward – if it even existed in the first place. Marvel Studios has its plate full with ending the Multiverse Saga and sowing the seeds for the X-Men in the MCU following it. Lucasfilm is also in its own season of growth, trying to find a foothold on Star Wars following the failed sequels. It seems Feige and Star Wars were just never meant to be together.

Kevin Feige’s full interview about his potential Star Wars project, Marvel Studios, and the upcoming film The Marvels can be seen below, courtesy of Entertainment Tonight.

The upcoming Star Wars movies

Lucasfilm announced three new movies during this year’s Star Wars Celebration in the United Kingdom. The first of the three Star Wars movies will be directed by James Mangold and will focus on the first Jedi to use The Force. Mangold is best known for directing hit movies such as Logan and Ford v Ferrari.

The second Star Wars movie will be directed by Dave Filoni and will culminate the events of the Star Wars series stremaing on Disney Plus. Filoni is no stranger to the Star Wars universe, having worked on numerous projects, including Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.

The third and final Star Wars movie will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and will be set 15 years after The Rise of the Skywalker, with Daisy Ridley returning as Rey. It will focus on the New Jedi order and promises to bring a new perspective to the Star Wars universe. Obaid-Chinoy is an Academy Award-winning director and is the first woman from Pakistan to receive the honor.
