The son of a Hollywood agent has been charged with three counts of murder amid the disappearance of his wife and both her parents. He was initially arrested Thursday after a homeless man found body parts belonging to a woman several miles away from the family’s home in Los Angeles.

The District Attorney in Los Angeles is charging Sam Haskell Jr. with killing his wife, Mei, and her parents, Goashan Li, 72, and Yanxiang Wang, 64. A surveillance video showed Haskell allegedly disposing of the body parts and waving down a blue moving truck to stop in. Additionally, he was recruiting multiple men to remove several bags from his home, and the laborers believed those bags contained body parts.
His neighbor wrote on X that the cops turned away the laborer’s concerns after realizing what the bags could have contained. “Latest update on my murderer neighbor: he hired day laborers to try to move the bags full of human remains. And then when they realized what was inside, they tried going to the cops and got turned away TWICE by two different police stations, because of course,” she wrote in a tweet. In a report by TMZ, the workers were told that the bags contained rocks, but once they opened one of the bags, they said it had body parts and returned it to Haskell, then contacted 911.
“These shocking and gruesome crimes have sent shockwaves through our community. We stand with the victims’ loved ones during this unimaginably difficult time and will do everything in our power to ensure justice is served. Our Major Crimes Division will work tirelessly to bring about a prosecution that reflects the severity of this devastating crime,” said District Attorney Gascón.

If convicted of the crime, Haskill will face a maximum sentence of life without parole.
