Monica Garcia is no longer married. The RHOSLC star wins full custody of her children and gets $6K a month in support as she finalizes divorce.
According to The U.S. Sun, Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Monica Garcia finalized her divorce from her ex-husband, Mike, on October 24.
In the divorce, Monica Garcia was awarded sole legal and physical custody of daughters Bri, 18, Jaidyn, 13, West, 7, and Kendall, 6. Mike was also ordered to pay the RHOSLC star $2,636 a month in child support and $4,000 a month in alimony.
Monica Garcia claims to have a gross monthly income of zero despite owning a children’s clothing company that makes swaddles.
Court documents state that Monica “does not have any countable income from any source,” while Mike Garcia makes a monthly income of $17,333. Mike must pay child support until each child reaches the age of 18. He must also pay alimony “until June 2037, or until other circumstances occur,” such as Monica remarrying or cohabitating with another partner.
However, that’s not all Monica scored in her divorce settlement.
The 40-year-old was also given “exclusive use and possession of” the couple’s $424,000 ranch-style home in Kaysville, Utah. Monica will have to pay her ex $130,000 for his share of the equity in the property. Per records, Monica and Mike still owe $168,000 on the property.
Despite Mike Garcia living “in another state across the country,” he will get their kids on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day with their family, per the divorce settlement, while Monica will have the kids on Thanksgiving.
Monica and Mike tied the knot in 2009. Four years later, Monica filed for divorce; however, she and Mike eventually reconciled. In June of 2023, Monica filed for divorce for the second time.
On RHOSLC in September, Monica confessed to co-star Heather Gay that she had an 18-month-long affair with her brother-in-law, which resulted in her being excommunicated by the Mormon Church.
Despite the scandal, Monica claimed in October 2023 that her divorce was not “because of [her] affair,” telling E! News that she and Mike just weren’t “good together.”
“You guys are going to be shocked when you discover the real reasons why we’re actually getting a divorce now because it’s not because of the affair,” she explained.
“Hopefully, I get the chance to clear things up and explain timelines, but the people in my life have already known about this,” she added. “They’ve already known about the affair, they’ve already known about the excommunication, and we’ve all had the time to process this information already.”
“It is something that I’m telling these women for the first time, but it was not something that I was nervous sharing because, as you’ll see throughout the season and hopefully at [the] reunion, you’ll be able to put pieces together, and I understand more so why it’s easier for me to discuss.”
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 4 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
