A new trailer has been released for the modern western action movie Showdown at the Grand, starring Terrence Howard and Dolph Lundgren, as well as John Savage, Amanda Righetti, and Piper Curda. The film is written and directed by Orson Oblowitz (The Queen of Hollywood Blvd, Trespassers).
The film’s synopsis reads:
“Proud movie theater owner George Fuller (Terrence Howard) is gearing up for a retrospective featuring fictional action star Claude Luc Hallyday (Dolph Lundgren). But when his beloved cinema, the ‘Warner Grand,’ suddenly comes under attack by hatchet-wielding ninjas sent by a ruthless corporate developer, the two men take the action off the screen and into the theater.”
This looks like it’s definitely inspired by Quentin Tarantino’s style of filmmaking, but it doesn’t look quite as good. Although, I usually discount movies that star Dolph Lundgren because he has mostly made bad action movies over the years, and this does look a step above most of those. Hopefully it does turn out to have a good story, and will be a fun watch for movie fans. It does look like Howard delivers a solid performance, as usual. Check out the trailer for yourself below, and let us know what you think.
Showdown at the Grand will be available to watch in select US theatres and on VOD on November 10th.
