An American woman was surprised to learn that Alaska is not an island but is connected to Canada, so it is easy to drive there from the neighboring country.

Last month, Sabriena Abrre made the revelation on TikTok and asked her viewers not to call her a “stupid American.” According to Business Insider, Abrre said she had a conversation with her Canadian boyfriend when she learned that Alaska was not an island: “Everybody knows that Alaska is cold. But did I know that it was connected by land? No. I did not know that.” She also didn’t know that you could drive to Alaska from Canada.
After her discovery, Abrre stated school curriculums need to be revised and said, “the curriculum obviously needs some help. We need a good revision — an overhaul of the entire curriculum at this point.” The video has 819,000 views, and Canadian tiktokers were also stunned by her discovery.

Another Tiktoker said she was embarrassed to learn that Alaska was not an island, and others asked if American classrooms had a world map for students. One user wrote, “Canadian: in school we had to learn both the Canadian provinces and the American states.” Another said, “I once asked why Hawaii was so warm and Alaska so cold, when they are right next to each other. In front of the WHOLE 10th grade class. 😳
You don’t need to go to school to pick up a world map and study it!!! Common sense isn’t taught in schools.
