Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for the second season of its Greek mythology-inspired anime series Blood of Zeus. The story centers on “a young hero, an ancient bloodline, and the war of the Gods.”
In the series, “In a brewing war between the gods of Olympus and the Titans, Heron, a commoner living on the outskirts of ancient Greece, becomes mankind’s best hope of surviving an evil demon army, when he discovers the secrets of his past.”
Heron is the illegitimate son of Zeus, and he has the power to defeat the evil that is threatening to overtake the Heavens and the Earth. A vengeful goddess attempts to kill him, and Season 2 will continue this story.
Blood of Zeus was created by Charley Parlapanides and Vlas Parlapanides, who also wrote the series. Parlapanides teased the future of the series in a previous interview, saying: “Someone keeps asking why they don’t see Athena. And the idea is, listen- Actually, we do. We would spend five seasons and we see her, there are shots of her, but it would be a five seasons story. And we definitely have a very detailed 20 page outline for season two worked out.”
The series’ cast includes Derek Phillips as Heron, Jason O’Mara as Zeus/Elias, Claudia Christian as Hera, Elias Toufexis as Seraphim, Mamie Gummer as Electra, Chris Diamantopoulos as Evios and Poseidon, Jessica Henwick as Alexia, Melina Kanakaredes as Ariana, Matthew Mercer as Hermes, Adetokumboh M’Cormack as Kofi, Adam Croasdell as Apollo and Hephaestus, Danny Jacobs as King Periander and King Acrisius, Matt Lowe as Ares, Jennifer Hale as Artemis and Clotho, Fred Tatasciore as Hades, David Shaughnessy as Chiron, Dionysus, and Vanessa Marshall as Ariana’s Sister.
The series will return in 2024.
