The new RCS messaging feature will add read receipts, typing indicators, and group chat support and be considered an alternative to messaging services among Apple and Android users called RCS. Previously, the company has been known to be hesitant to integrate messaging services, but now they believe the merger will benefit everyone. However, green bubbles will be reserved for the RCS messaging system as reported by UNILAD.
“We believe RCS Universal Profile will offer a better interoperability experience when compared to SMS or MMS. This will work alongside iMessage, which will continue to be the best and most secure messaging experience for Apple users,” the statement reads.

Apple has also updated its latest iPhones by replacing their unique lightning cable with USB-C cable after facing pressure from regulators. Google also said in a statement that they are happy that Apple is on board with implementing the RCS messaging system.
“That’s why we have worked closely with the mobile industry to accelerate the adoption of RCS, and we’re happy to see Apple take their first step today by coming on board to embrace RCS. We welcome Apple’s participation in our ongoing work with GSMA to evolve RCS and make messaging more equitable and secure, and look forward to working with them to implement this on iOS in a way that works well for everyone.”
Apple created iMessage in 2011 to offer iPhone users a more seamless and feature-rich messaging experience. Before iMessage, iPhone users could only send and receive SMS (Short Message Service) messages, which were limited to 160 characters and did not support multimedia content. on the other hand, iMessage allowed users to send and receive unlimited-length messages, photos, videos, and other types of media.
iMessage quickly became popular among iPhone users, offering several advantages over SMS. For example, iMessage messages were delivered almost instantly, whereas SMS messages could sometimes take several minutes to arrive. iMessage also allowed users to see when their messages had been read and to start group conversations with multiple people.
