Amazon has released the full trailer for their upcoming Christmas movie, Candy Cane Lane, starring Eddie Murphy as holiday-obsessed family man Chris, Tracee Ellis Ross as his wife Carol, Genneya Walton plays their daughter Joy, Thaddeus J. Mixson plays their son Nick, and Madison Thomas plays their youngest, Holly. Jillian Bell plays the film’s antagonist, an evil elf named Pepper. The rest of the cast includes Ken Marino, Nick Offerman, Robin Thede, Chris Redd, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, Lombardo Boyar, D.C. Young Fly, Danielle Pinnock, Timothy Simons, Riki Lindhome, and Stephen Tobolowsky.
The film’s synopsis reads:
“Candy Cane Lane follows Chris (Murphy), who inadvertently makes a deal with a mischievous elf named Pepper (Bell) to better his chances of winning, she casts a magic spell that brings the 12 Days of Christmas to life, and wreaks havoc on the whole town. At the risk of ruining the holidays for his family, Chris, his wife Carol (Ross), and their three children must race against the clock to break Pepper’s spell, battle deviously magical characters, and save Christmas for everyone.”
The film reunites director Reginald Hudlin, Murphy and producer Brian Grazer for the first time since their 1992 hit Boomerang. The film is written by Kelly Younger, who was inspired by his own childhood holiday experiences on Candy Cane Lane in El Segundo, CA.
This looks like it’s going to be a ton of fun for families to watch together this holiday season! I am looking forward to all the new Christmas movies coming out this year.
