The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier recently revealed an interesting little bit of insight on the film and how Edward Norton wanted to get Radiohead to do the soundtrack for the movie. That would’ve actually been really cool! Leterrier shared on a recent episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast:

“Edward is great friends with Thom Yorke. He wanted Radiohead to do the music, and that was genius. We know what Radiohead sounds like and I think Marvel was pushing for a little bit more of a typical Hollywood soundtrack. We thought — not a compromise — but what we thought the elegant in-between was to find Craig Armstrong, who had worked with Massive Attack, to create the soundtrack, which is haunting.”

So, ultimately, Radiohead didn’t do the score for The Incredible Hulk, but the acoustic version of Creep found its way into James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. I would’ve liked to see what Radiohead would’ve done with the soundtrack to The Incredible Hulk. It’s a shame that Marvel was looking to stick with something more traditional.

Yorke has gone on to do a few film soundtracks providing the music for 2018’s Suspiria remake. Jonny Greenwood, also scored 2007’s There Will Be Blood before he went on to land some Academy Award nominations for creating the music to 2017’s Phantom Thread and 2021’s The Power of the Dog.
