Most months, Netflix has a mix of new big-ticket movies and shows. In December, there are a couple notable series — like more episodes of The Crown, for example — but the vast majority of the most interesting projects fall on the film side of things. Movies: Now more than ever!
For example, Zack Snyder has his latest Netflix movie, which is technically the first of two pictures coming back to back in the months ahead. Rebel Moon is the former DC film architect’s bid for his own original sci-fi franchise. But if you’re looking for stuff that’s going to be more in the awards conversation at the end of the year, Netflix has several of those projects as well, including Bradley Cooper’s anticipated biography of composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein, called Maestro, and the new film from Todd Haynes, May December, which is a fictional (and fascinating) version of the Mary Kay Letourneau scandal starring Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore.
And there’s still more — like the long-awaited Chicken Run sequel. And if you missed The Super Mario Bros. Movie in theaters, that’s coming to Netflix as well. Here’s the full list of new titles on Netflix in December 2023:
