Daron Malakian: ‘I’m Blessed to Have Both Scars and System’

Rod Wave has clapped back against critics accusing him of stealing lyrics from the likes of JAY-Z, 2Pac, Drake and more.

The Florida native addressed the haters in a series of social media posts on Tuesday (November 21) after the accusations of him biting other artists’ work piled up.

One viral tweet highlighted Rod’s history of interpolating lyrics from classic songs like JAY-Z’s “Song Cry,” 2Pac’s “Picture Me Rollin’” and Drake’s “Over My Dead Body” throughout his career.

“Just cus youn known bout da original song mean I stole it? U dumb bitch,” Rod wrote in response on X (formerly Twitter). “I ain’t never stole shit 5 platinum albums find u a hobby fuck n-gga.”

He even claimed that he won’t be dropping any more music in the future after this latest controversy, adding: “U bitches don’t even fwm speaking on me mind yo bidness bitch. Fuck y’all I came wat I came ta do I ain’t dropping shit else.”

Rod Wave continued to respond to the online chatter in videos posted to his Instagram Story.

“It was okay to be a teenager listening to their music and supporting them and shit,” he said. “Now, a n-gga grown and a rapper. A n-gga say a couple lines because I fuck with such and such… I fuck with what a n-gga say and I put it in my songs and a fuck n-gga wanna act like I stole some shit.

“All these fuck n-ggas bringing up these lyrics like I stole some shit. You dumb bitch, it’s public record. How the fuck I stole it? … I never want no extra attention, bro. I drop my music and stay the fuck out the way.”

Journalist/rapper Rob Markman also weighed in on the debate and came to Rod Wave’s defense, debunking the the notion that he has been blatantly “stealing” bars from other artists.

“This whole ‘Rod Wave is stealing lyrics’ convo has to be thee dumbest thing I’ve seen in a while,” he wrote on X. “It’s called interpolation and I’m positive it’s cleared with whoever owns the publishing… he’s not trying to pass Jay Z’s ‘Song Cry’ off as his own, I promise.”

The scrutiny over Rod Wave’s rhymes began last week when Boosie Badazz called out the SoulFly star over his hook on “Long Journey,” which he allegedly borrowed from Boosie and Webbie’s 2010 track of the same name without permission.

Rod was receptive to Boosie’s complaints and pledged to properly compensate him. However, it’s unclear how the matter will be resolved as the Baton Rouge rapper claimed to have “paperwork” ready.

“On my momma, Boosie big bra I fw ya tell me a real number Yeen even gotta do all dat tell me a number ima pull and bring it to you,” Rod said on social media.

In a separate video posted to X, he added: “Man, you ain’t gotta sue no n-gga like me, man. I’ma pull up and make sure you straight.”
