Diddy’s Sean John clothing label will be phased out of Macy’s after their two decade partnership.

In an exclusive by Radar Online, the mogul’s label will not be available on the department store’s website. A source close to the company said that Sean John has been evaluated since it has yet to sell like it used to in the late ’90s and early 2000s. However, they clarified that the decision was ongoing before Cassie’s lawsuit.
“As part of our ongoing review of our brand portfolio, the Sean John collection has started to phase out of assortment since early fall 2023,” the statement reads. The brand is reportedly “being imagined, but there are no plans for a re-release. Sean John was launched by Diddy in 1998, and he sold 90 percent of its stake to Global Brands Group in 2016. He purchased Sean John back for $7.5 million in 2021 after its holding company went bankrupt.

Diddy previously sued Sean John for stealing his image before the purchase and claimed its new owners stole his image, likeness, and persona without his permission for its collaboration with Missguided.
“[Diddy] does not challenge [Sean John/GBG’s] right to use the Sean John trademark, but rather [Sean John/GBG’s] decision to leverage a fabricated quote they created and then falsely attributed to Mr. Combs, and to use Mr. Combs’s name and other monikers to create the false and misleading impression that Mr. Combs is the decision-maker behind the designs and creation of the GBG Collection. [Sean John, GBG and Missguided] are using the Unapproved Material, which contains false or misleading representations of fact, to promote and sell the items in the GBG Collection because they understand that associating it with Mr. Combs will significantly increase sales and profits.”
Macy’s carried the Sean John label since 2010 after he signed an exclusive partnership with the department store. He also wore a custom Sean John couture to the 2023 Met Gala, making its first debut. The look was inspired by Karl Lagerfeld’s love for camellias, along with his signature sunglasses, fingerless gloves, and pointed boots. He also wore a taffeta rainwear puffer cape and details encompassing the signature Sean John look.
