A 54-year-old Iowa man named Kenneth Kelly has been arrested and charged for allegedly pleasuring himself at a Kum & Go gas station. However, he claimed he was just scratching his genitals.

According to local radio station 1630 KCJJ, the accused — identified as 54-year-old Kenneth Kelly of Wayne Avenue in Iowa City — was recently arrested on a warrant from an alleged incident that happened back in March at the Muscatine Avenue Kum & Go gas station.
During the alleged event, which occurred around 12:30 on March 16, Kelly was accused of following Kum & Go customers into the convenience store and masturbating in front of them. Customers then called 911 to report Kelly, claiming they had witnessed an unknown male yell out sexual comments to them before reaching into his pants to begin masturbating in front of them.

According to police, the victims provided them with a description of the suspected Iowa man, which was also confirmed via video surveillance footage that reportedly showed Kelly approaching the convenience store and its customers before the alleged indecent act.
After speaking with witnesses, police officers continued to stick around the area and asked other patrons and bystanders if they had ever seen Kelly via photos of him. It is reported that several people from the store, neighboring businesses, and apartments allegedly identified Kelly as the subject in the photos of the alleged crime.

Police later visited Kelly’s apartment and confronted him about the alleged incident. While he denied that it was him in the photos, he did admit that he had clothing that matched the person in the video. Furthermore, when victims from the incident were presented with a photo lineup, with Kelly included, he was positively identified as the man seen pleasuring himself at the Kum & Go.
Recently, police obtained a search warrant and were able to seize the clothing that matched that of the man in the surveillance video and traffic cameras from the alleged incident. On Thursday afternoon (November 16), police arrested Kelly. After reading him his Miranda rights, Kelly allegedly claimed that he wasn’t exposing himself to the Kum & Go patrons, but that he was only scratching his genitals.
Regardless, Kelly was charged with Indecent Exposure, which is a serious misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail if convicted.
