Nineties pop legend Dario G has opened up about his health battle four months on from receiving a stage four diagnosis.

The British-based Sunchyme and Carnival de Paris hitmaker – whose real name is Paul Spencer – revealed in July he had been diagnosed with stage four rectal cancer aged 52.

“Hard to write this. I’ve just found out that I’ve got stage 4 rectal cancer and a shadow on my liver,” Dario G wrote on X, formerly Twitter, at the time.

“That’s damn hard to read too I’m sure. Gonna give it my best shot though. Stay positive, cos I am. Always,” he continued.

“Seeing the doctors on Friday to discuss the next steps.”

In the months since, Dario G has been updating his followers on his treatment – he now gets chemotherapy every two weeks.

And in a new interview with the Mirror, Dario G opened up about the “emotional hole” he regularly finds himself in due to the side effects of the chemotherapy.

Dario G told the outlet: ”You know, stage four cancer, there’s no cure. But that’s part of my journey the understanding of, ‘Where is this leading?’

“That’s the feat when you’re told you’ve got cancer and then you’re told you’ve got stage four cancer.”

He continued: “It’s like, ‘Right, there’s no going back to zero cancer. They’re going to manage it, what are they going to do? How long have I got?’

“All these types of thoughts go through your head. I’m a really positive person and I do think that positivity is gonna, not cure me but, it’s gonna be a huge part of it.”

Dario G says his diagnosis has “obviously been the biggest challenge of [his] life so far” but a positive mindset, and counselling, has been helping him.

He says: “I’ve got lots to achieve even if that’s just having fun.”
